How Your Ortho Team Gets Ready for Your Visit in COVID-19
May 18, 2020
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, your Newark orthodontist and their team would wash their hands, put on new gloves and a mask, and be ready to start your appointment. However, much more goes into preparing for your visit today! To your orthodontist, health, safety, and infection control have always been the foundation of excellent dental treatment. Here are six ways they prepare for your ortho appointment to make sure you are as protected as possible when receiving care for your smile.
1.) Advanced Staff Training
Every team member has completed additional COVID-19 awareness and prevention training. This keeps everyone as informed and prepared as possible to provide safe dental care during a pandemic.
2.) Designated Safety Champion
A safety champion is a team member who has been trained and assigned to monitor the practice’s Commitment to Safety. They are available to answer questions and confirm all infection control protocols are being followed correctly.
3.) Daily Team Member Health Checks
Team members start off each day with a quick no-touch temperature check and health questionnaire. This ensures that everyone is ready and able to keep the practice and patients healthy each day.
4.) Updated Personal Hygiene Standards
To completely eliminate the chance of harboring any germs on their hands, the personal hygiene standards for team members have changed. Along with short or worn-up hair, they won’t be wearing any jewelry, watches, or long fingernails in the office.
5.) Changes to the Reception Area
Your orthodontist has also made several changes to their reception room. When you come in for your appointment, you’ll notice that they’ve removed the magazines, toys, and several of the chairs to encourage social distancing and limit frequently touched surfaces.
6.) Deep Cleaning Every Evening
After regular cleaning and sanitizing all day, the entire office is deep cleaned every evening as well. Every surface, piece of equipment, and dental instrument is cleaned with hospital-grade disinfectants and CDC-recommended sterilization methods.
The COVID-19 pandemic may have changed what “normal” dental visits look like, but it hasn’t changed your orthodontist’s commitment to your overall health. If you need to visit them, you can feel confident that you’re walking into a clean, germ-free, and fully prepared practice.
